In South East Asia, education technology is taking off on the back of higher internet penetration and a burgeoning use of smartphones. During covid lockdowns, edtech has facilitated remote learning. Edtech is also promoting education inclusion by enabling remote learning for geographically isolated rural communities. This has been particularly helpful for countries like Indonesia with its population scattered over thousands of islands.
