South Kalimantan on the island of Borneo has declared a state of emergency as tens of thousands of people are displaced by torrential flooding. The Indonesian archipelago has continued to suffer from the impacts of rising global temperatures, with its cities and coastal areas hit by regular flooding and rising sea levels, so much so that it is moving its sinking capital, Jakarta to Kalimantan. Economic growth and environmental policies to mitigate climate change are not mutually exclusive and Indonesia, being arguably the most affected country in the ASEAN region offers significant opportunity in this regard.
