How blockchain can be used to promote SDG7

“The capacity of blockchain to monetize excess solar electricity could usher in a transition to a production-by-consumer, and attract additional investments into solar energy.”  United Nations ESCAP

Blockchain-based electricity networks are increasingly being deployed across Asia and the Pacific. Such networks have the potential to promote SDG7 by facilitating peer-to-peer transactions, thus bypassing intermediaries and making energy more affordable. This is particularly beneficial for the poor and rural communities. However, blockchain networks are still in their developing stages.
